A chillum (or one-hitter, taster, etc) is simply a straight pipe with a bowl at one end, and a "mouthpiece" at the other. Originally used since at least the 18th century by Hindu monks called Sadhus. The chillum is often held between the fingers while the hand is curled into a fist. The individual inhales against the hole created by their fist, and not directly on the chillum itself. They provide a unique and highly portable smoking experience, with many being only 3" long.
